Amata Games has announced Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Dual Destinies VR, according to Gematsu. It's a virtual reality remake of the courtroom series' fifth mainline entry. Capcom has licensed the project.

It launches in 2027 for Meta Quest headsets and the newly unveiled Meta VR Glasses.

Players take on the roles of Phoenix Wright, Apollo Justice and Athena Cykes as they defend clients in a courtroom rebuilt for virtual reality. Gematsu reports the story picks up eight years after Phoenix Wright's return to practising law.

It opens inside a badly damaged courtroom, with the trio pushing back against what the game calls the Dark Age of the Law, an era where winning a case matters more than the truth.

Objections You Can Actually Shout

Gematsu's rundown of the game's features shows Capcom and Amata Games leaning hard into presence, the game's central selling point.

Players can use standard controllers or switch to voice-activated "OBJECTION!" calls, paired with hand-tracked gestures for pointing at witnesses and presenting evidence.

Crime scenes are explorable in 3D. Hand tracking and motion controls let players examine evidence up close. The core deduction gameplay, spotting contradictions in testimony, picking apart witness statements, carries over from the original game.

Dual Destinies VR will ship with English, Japanese, Korean, French, German, and both Traditional and Simplified Chinese language support. An announcement trailer is out now, in both English and Japanese. An official website for the project has also launched.

The Original Case Gets A Second Life

Dual Destinies launched on the 3DS in 2013. It later reappeared as part of the Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy on Switch in 2024, Nintendo Life notes.

This VR edition marks the first time the case has been rebuilt around a headset, rather than a handheld or console screen.

Timed To A Milestone Year

The announcement lands a fortnight ahead of Phoenix Wright's 25th anniversary on 12th October 2026. Nintendo Life reports Capcom is already marking the date with a new illustration by series artists Kazuyu Nuri and Takuro Fuse.

Capcom has also confirmed the Ace Attorney Trilogy has now sold more than five million copies.

No pricing has been announced for Dual Destinies VR. Capcom hasn't said whether other entries in the series will follow it into virtual reality.
