Brawl Stars Takes on Duolingo in New 20-Player Boss Fight

Duolingo is about to invade Supercell's Brawl Stars, and the unexpected crossover looks absolutely incredible.

On September 19th, Duolingo's very own emerald owl Duo will take over Starr Park inside Brawl Stars, kicking off an epic confrontation that has been building for weeks. To top things off, Brawl Star's Spike will be taking over lessons in Duolingo, filling in for Duo to encourage learners to maintain their streaks and unlock exclusive new rewards all the way up through the end of the collaboration on September 30.

Brawl Stars Is Going to War With Duolingo

In Brawl Stars, players will be able to take part in the game's very first 20v1 boss fight set within Duo's classroom, with an oversized version of the Duolingo mascot taking center stage. As noted by the official press release from Supercell, "Players will have to work together to take down increasingly powerful versions of Duo while completing quizzes: those who answer correctly are rewarded, and those who answer incorrectly take damage or are eliminated."

Brawl Stars players will also be able to visit Duo's classroom to take part in a community-wide event to earn exclusive in-game rewards. Players will have to step into Duo's classroom each day in order to complete various lessons, with a final exam on the last day of the collaboration offering the opportunity to unlock a special prize, though it should be noted that ending up in detention is a very real possibility for those who misbehave.

The official announcement goes on to note of Spike's upcoming appearance in Duolingo, "Spike doesn’t have Duo's way with words, but he has other ways of encouraging learners to keep their streaks. As Duo wreaks havoc in Starr Park, Spike crosses over into Duolingo, where learners can complete lessons as part of a special limited-time Quest and unlock exclusive rewards along the way."

During the collaboration, Duolingo learners can complete daily lessons to progress through a "special limited-time Quest, giving learners another reason to keep their streaks going while unlocking exclusive crossover rewards." Duolingo learners can also unlock Spike in Brawl Stars for themselves by finishing the complete Duolingo crossover challenge.

2026 has been a massive year for both Brawl Stars and Duolingo, with each title taking part in some seriously exciting collaborations throughout. Back in June, Duolingo headed back to WEBTOON for Duo Leveling, which introduced the language learning app's very first villain in the form of the dreaded Zero.

Brawl Stars, on the other hand, has been part of one collaboration after another, with the fan-favorite Supercell title teaming up with everyone from critically acclaimed filmmaker Taika Waititi to German rock band Electric Callboy. Brawl Stars even joined forces with Adidas during the World Cup to give fans a whole new line of merchandise that was a perfect choice for any pitch.
