HoYoverse has announced that Genshin Impact Version 7.1, A Rekviem for the Underworld, will launch on September 23, 2026.
Ronova will become a new Weekly Boss during Version 7.1, while completing the new Archon Quest will award 620 Primogems. Players will also begin accepting assignments from the Tsaritsa’s Confidential Secretary that provide additional insight into how the Cryo Archon governs Snezhnaya.
Vesna is a 5-star Anemo Sword character and the youngest Commander in Druzhna history. She can convert Cryo Swirl reactions into Stellar Swirl reactions and summon Spirit Blades through her abilities. Her attacks build Sword Essence, which can be spent to command the Spirit Blades to attack. Spirit Blade attacks performed near a Stellar Vortex count as Stellar Swirl reaction damage. Her Elemental Burst deals AoE Anemo damage and restores Sword Essence.
Vesna can also fly during exploration due to her status as a Vila. A character anecdote centered on her will provide an alternate appearance for her sword spirit companion.
Vodyanitsa is a 5-star Hydro Catalyst character and the Prima Donna of Snezhnograd’s Korolevskiy Troupe. She can transform into her Water Imp form through her Elemental Skill and maintain a song that heals the active character, reduces enemy Hydro and Cryo resistance, and increases the active character’s attack.
Her song also affects Stellar Vortices by reducing enemy Anemo resistance and increasing Stellar Swirl reaction damage. Vodyanitsa can travel quickly through water in her Water Imp form and remain transformed while moving on land. Her associated story will reward an alternate microphone appearance.
Vesna and Vodyanitsa will headline the first phase of Version 7.1 Event Wishes. Skirk and Escoffier will return during the second phase.
Liyue’s Moonchase Festival is also returning after five years. This year’s festivities take place around Yilong Wharf and involve a mystery connected to the area’s past, with Zhongli and Zibai participating in the story. Three mini-games based on Liyue thaumaturges will be available, and event rewards include a new 4-star Sword.
Other events include a snowball activity alongside children in Snezhnaya and a tournament prediction event in Natlan. In the latter, players predict the final results of 16 teams across several days of matches.
Miliastra Wonderland is also receiving additional content. Its lobby will adopt an autumn theme, while an associated event will offer a free cosmetic set. Another festival event includes an exclusive headpiece. The editor is also adding client-side scripting controls and collaborative editing tools.
Version 7.1 coincides with Genshin Impact’s sixth anniversary. Players who complete the latest Archon Quest can select one event-exclusive 5-star character for free from a specified lineup at any point during Version 7.1. Anniversary rewards also include a choice of one standard 5-star character, 1,600 Primogems, 10 Intertwined Fates, and additional items.
Moreover, the fan art special program Project: Nord Express will premiere on September 20, 2026, at 20:00 (UTC+8). The program will feature around 16 fan-created animated shorts and original fan music, including the finale to the current arc of the acclaimed Genshin Elemental Warfare series and a brand-new short by KIERU.
Genshin Impact is available on PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X|S, and mobile devices.
