Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka has said that the company will continue to experiment with the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Speaking in a new interview Mr. Iizuka said that when the team tries something new and different with the blue blur they can capitalise on this and the end result can be a completely unique game which is something Mr. Iizuka hints he wants the next Sonic the Hedgehog game to be.

“Sonic is a character who moves through the world at extremely high speed, and there aren’t many other games like that. In that sense, whatever we do with Sonic is something that other games don’t have.”

“Whether it’s an open-world game, an adventure game, or something Sonic hasn’t done before, trying something new with Sonic can result in a completely unique game.”
