Call of Duty fans, time to put a pin on the calendar – Season 1 for the latest entry begins on November 6th, 2026, bringing us the first Battle Pass, the new year of Warzone with two brand new maps, plenty of new content for multiplayer and DMZ alike and much more. There’s even some hints about what’s to come later in the season, and info on new content dropping even before the Season 1 begins. So, let’s check it out, shall we? Here’s what’s next for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4!

    Now where were we?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launched on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and for the first time on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 23rd, 2026 – mere five days before this barrage of information about the upcoming content, that is. The game launched with one of the finest single player campaigns in the series’ history, a mighty ambitious and deep extraction shooter mode in DMZ, and a somewhat safe but grounded and addictive multiplayer module with plenty of solid maps and modes to boot. On top of updated cheat detection systems, the unmissable the multiplayer map Shipment was added just a day ago,

As always, however, the content at launch is merely the beginning of the year-long journey that is Call of Duty post-launches, with six or so seasons of meaningful content updates leading all the way into next year’s entry in the franchise, when the cycle begins anew. Indeed, on November 6th, 2026, begins Season 1 of Modern Warfare 4‘s life cycle, and there’s already a metric ton of stuff of content coming up. Perhaps, also continuing the few remaining loose ends at the end of the campaign, too…

Multiplayer: six new maps and new game modes

The MP module is immediately expanded at the start of season 1 with the medium-sized snow ridden battlegrounds of Backstab, the similarly sized scorched desert of Canyon, and the return of yet another iconic map, Shoot House, on top of a fixed variant of the evolving map Kill Block based on Crash. Mid-season, in Season 1 Reloaded, we’ll get Ministry set somewhat ironically in the Global Peace Summit, the factory and farm-based Overflow and more maps to be announced later on.

We’ll also get various new modes. Just in time for Halloween, on October 29th, comes Possession – a hectic mode where killing an opponent lets you teleport in their place and start using their loadout. A mere day later, on October 30th, is the return of another iconic Call of Duty mode – Infected, pitting an increasing number of mutated players versus human survivors. Two more returnees on November 6th, when Season 1 begins, in the dog tag-based Grind and the air supply-filled Drop Zone, with even a limited time 1v1 variant of Gauntlet.

DMZ: A new story mission, various new events and threats, plenty of new loot

The intense extraction shooter experience of DMZ gets expanded as well, with a brand new story mission in Hajin named Designation X01, where players have to infiltrate a previously undisclosed underground clandestine weapon facility. New events include Resupply Run, a race to get some valuable airdrop loot, plus various high threat enemies roaming the lands of Hajin – such as a heavily armed North Korean tank named Battle Tank and the mysterious soldier The Captain, with more content also coming later in the season.

Our Operating Base won’t stay without new things to see and do, either. On top of yet undisclosed items dropping to our 3D Printer, the Boss Board will receive multiple new bosses to seek intel on and hunt down, and a brand new Battle Pass Station will be added to quickly access, well, the ongoing Battle Pass. Even the Vendor will feature various brand new, Season 1-specific items that have not seen before, making sure we get to spend our hard earned DMZ cash not only just on reviving our fallen Operators.

Weapons: 4 new weapons, 4 new attachments and more to come

Unlockable via the Battle Pass is the all-rounder assault rifle Cronen Osprey, a 5.56 rifle that seems to be a Peacemaker-esque middle-ground choice. Still in the Pass is the brand new CSG-35, the fastest-shooting SMG in Modern Warfare 4 yet with a whopping 1200 RPM. Then we’ve got the full-auto shotgun JAK 12, unlockable via an upcoming event. All these weapons feature their own set of attachments and Apex modifications – with the latter shotgun packing adhesive explosive bullets for maximum surface penetration. Lastly is the lethal and iconic Combat Axe, also unlocked via an in-season event.

Four new attachments also join the Modern Warfare 4 loadout roster. We’ve got the Hyeon Auto Apex Attachment, turning the original burst rifle weapon into a fully automatic fire behemoth that is guaranteed to wreak havoc. Then there’s the Kastov 545 Apex Attachment, changing the weapon’s bullet times to 5.45x39mm rounds. The brilliant M16 is also getting a Burst Attachment mod, and various new attachments will also be added throughout the season – such as the TT Iron Guard Kit for the .50 GS Pistol.

    Warzone and new events

Yet another year of Warzone also begins on November 6th, bringing us two whole new maps to play with. The massive Hajin, set between North Korea, South Korea and Russia, which we’ve already playing DMZ on these past days. And then there’s Zodiac, a smaller map that we witnessed in the August-September beta for the game, which will join the Resurgence mode. Verdansk and Rebirth Island will also make a comeback. More information on what’s coming to the free-to-play battle royale will arrive on November 2nd, 2026.

It wouldn’t be a season of Call of Duty without some limited events to give players rotating content, not to mention some FOMO. Indeed, Modern Warfare Season 1 will feature various new Weapon Camo Events, a Joint Fire Event where XP Boosts will be awarded to people queuing in matchmaking together, with more to come as well. Of note is Wager Match, where players will be able to earn extra rewards by duking it out in 1v1 Gunfight and by completing other challenges across DMZ and Warzone.

Battle Pass, BlackCell and new cosmetics

There’s obviously going to be a brand new Battle Pass, and on top of coming with a ton of new content in the form of new base weapons, charms, emblems, calling cards, double XP tokens, weapon blueprints, up to 1100 COD Points and much more, the structure of it all itself has been simplified. Of note is the new catch-up system, where players who start the season late can catch up to as many levels as days they missed of the season, up to 50 – making it easier to complete the Battle Pass even by joining late.

The more expensive BlackCell version of the Pass features even more content, including DMZ Survival Kits and even wilder looking operator skins – of note is the XERO set, which almost feels like a middle ground between Call of Duty and Squid Game with its smooth masks. As a reminder, owners of the game’s Vault Edition already own Season 1 BlackCell. On top of the already available Call of Duty Endowment (C.O.D.E.) Valor Pack, various paid cosmetic bundles will also drop during the season. It remains to be seen if any bundle will contain blueprints, items and so forth for DMZ, as that might be considered some sort of competitive advantage.

See you on the battleground, soldier!

Much more details about what Season 1 can be found on Call of Duty‘s website’s blog post, of course, with more screenshots and explanations of every map, mode and piece of content that’s been revealed thus far. Last year’s game, Black Ops 7 had some ridiculously content-packed and amazing seasons, starting from its very first season right after its launch – let’s see if Modern Warfare 4 can also reach such heights!

As a final reminder, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is available since October 23rd, 2026 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and for the first time on Nintendo Switch 2, and unlike the previous two games it is not included day one in any Game Pass tier, with Ultimate subscribers getting the game sometime during the next holiday season. Season 1, with its Battle Pass, its BlackCell variant, the new year of Warzone with the two new maps and so forth begins on November 6th. See you in Hajin, soldier!
