A groom in China was given an unusual challenge before he could take his bride to their wedding ceremony: beat her in a game of Valorant.
Weddings can be stressful enough without having to worry about your aim, but one Chinese couple decided to put their gaming skills to the test as part of their big day.
In a video circulating on Instagram, the groom was tasked with defeating his bride in Riot Games‘ popular tactical shooter before he could take her to their wedding ceremony.
The challenge was reportedly part of a Chinese wedding tradition in which the groom and his friends must complete a series of tasks prepared by the bride and her bridesmaids.

Talk about a clutch moment.
It’s not the first time a couple has brought their love of gaming into their wedding celebrations.
In 2023, a Chinese couple made headlines after turning their wedding into a League of Legends competition, with the bride defeating her husband and his wedding party.
Meanwhile, in February 2026, another gaming couple went viral after inviting Sony to their wedding, only for PlayStation to respond with free games and a congratulatory card.
For this particular groom, though, the stakes were considerably high. Fortunately, he secured the most important victory of his Valorant career.
